"Now that tryouts are for the most part completed I am excited to get trainings started and to get some friendlies under our belt so we can start rapidly improving and getting prepared for the league season. I am so impressed by the talent that has participated in the tryouts. It really was a difficult process to narrow down our roster. Throughout April and May, we'll use these practices and trainings to see the players on the field more, and we'll be able to trim the roster down to 25, which is what we want to be at for the season.

I’m pleased with the roster we have put together and the great talent that we had to choose from. A lot of these girls came from big programs: Georgia, Washington, U of Portland, UPenn...and we have just as many decorated players who came out of smaller colleges like Concordia and Western Oregon. I believe this team will gel very well. You'd be surprised, but I even got that impression from seeing some of them play together during the tryouts. We will have to work extremely hard to get to the level that the organization wants to be at, but with the group we have here, I think we can definitely head in the right direction.

Having someone like Nicole Wilcox lead our team into the season will be exciting. She brings great skill and knowledge to the field, which makes her a strong competitor and a great leader. Combined with the 26 other talented players we have selected, that makes the Rain a big threat even in our first year. We are excited to get going and to show the fans in this great soccer community what kind of team we have. Soccer in Portland is definitely on the upswing, and we feel proud to be a part of it!"
